PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cid Strife (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and serenity james (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Strife comes to the cage accompanied by Tool - Ticks and Leeches. james has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cid Strife!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, serenity james!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Summer Carpenter and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some bone on bone action there as Strife checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Strife gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
No luck for Strife with that takedown attempt.
Strife shoots in and drives through. james sprawls well.
james scores with a jab.
james works the jab nicely.
Strife fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cid Strife. That's going to take a lot out of him.
james tries to close the distance and clinch but Strife swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Strife shoots in looking for a takedown. james tries to sprawl out of it but Strife keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. james manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Strife dodges the punch combination from james.
james motions for Strife to come forward. james throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Strife checks a leg kick nicely.
james throws a jab but it's blocked by Strife.
A head kick misses from james.
No luck for Strife with that takedown attempt.
james throws the left hand but Strife avoids the punch easily.
Horrible takedown by Strife or perhaps it was just good defense by james which made him look bad.
Strife looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? james is fending him off so far but Strife persists. Nope, james circles away and we're back to standing.
A jab from james finds it's way through Strife's defenses.
james fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Strife looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Strife displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as james throws out the jab.
james stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and james wants it to stay on the feet.
Strife on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Nice sprawl there from james as Strife shoots in.
Strife is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
No joy there for james, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Strife scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Strife working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
james tries to improve position but can't.
Strife staying calm.
Strife trying to control the action but james is working from the bottom.
james wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Strife moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
james is trying to get back to half guard.

Strife looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
james is trying to improve his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Strife is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, james has escaped the position, nice work there.
james can't do much from the bottom here.
james sneaks back into half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if james can do anything to dispel that myth.
Strife perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
james is looking to control Strife's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can james avoid being mounted?
Strife controlling the action here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A slapping leg kick lands for james.
james throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
james looks to land a left hand but Strife moved out of range nicely.
Strife slips a jab and a cross from james.
james throws a head kick but Strife moves out of range.

Strife is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in james's half guard.
Strife trying to control the pace.
james is breathing heavily.

Strife is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! james is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Cid Strife!
