Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kyle Hammersmith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roger Dandley! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Eliza Hachem and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dandley changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hammersmith looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Hammersmith wants to control but Dandley postures up. Dandley tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Hammersmith is looking for a sweep. Hammersmith struggling a bit here. Dandley should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Hammersmith manages to work his way to half guard, despite Dandley's best efforts. Hammersmith is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Dandley thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Hammersmith gets the takedown into side control. Hammersmith tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hammersmith has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Dandley tries to control but Hammersmith manages to take his back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dandley trying to control the hands but Hammersmith won't let him. Dandley fending off the submission attempt from Hammersmith. Dandley breaks Hammersmith's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Dandley got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hammersmith has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dandley has managed to get both his arms back between Hammersmith's legs - danger averted. Dandley passes Hammersmith's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Hammersmith works his way to full guard. Good work. Hammersmith escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dandley gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hammersmith looking for submissions from an awkward position here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hammersmith wants to control but Dandley is keeping busy and won't allow it. Dandley tries to pass to full mount but Hammersmith defends it. Dandley is working for a submission of some sort.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Hammersmith is refusing to be controlled, as Dandley sits in half guard. Hammersmith has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dandley is working away from the top position though.

Hammersmith is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dandley is just riding it out for now. Hammersmith eventually gives up the hold. Dandley is trying to control but Hammersmith manages to pass to mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hammersmith goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Dandley is on top in guard.

Hammersmith looking for submissions off his back. Dandley is trying to control the action in half guard but Hammersmith is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Dandley uses his free foot to push down on Hammersmith's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Hammersmith. Hammersmith gets back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hammersmith has his takedown stuffed and Dandley counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Dandley trying to control the action but Hammersmith is working from the bottom. Hammersmith is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Dandley pulls his head out easily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dandley is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Hammersmith actively working from the bottom here. Dandley is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Hammersmith is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Dandley is aware though and is defending well. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Dandley wants to control from the top but Hammersmith keeps moving. Dandley sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hammersmith's guard. Hammersmith looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Dandley works his way into side control. Hammersmith gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dandley thows a huge punch but Hammersmith dodges it nicely.

It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hammersmith defends it well. Hammersmith is trying to maintain the position but Dandley is very close to passing his half guard. Dandley looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hammersmith is trying to control Dandley's posture but Dandley avoids it. Dandley is looking to take a break and control but Hammersmith is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Hammersmith manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Hammersmith seems to be working for a kimura but Dandley defends the submission attempt. Dandley wants to get back to full guard but Hammersmith has passed into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Hammersmith avoids the attempt from Dandley to control. Hammersmith working for a submission but Dandley is keeping him at bay. Hammersmith jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Dandley is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Dandley and Hammersmith has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Dandley sneaks back into half guard. Dandley makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Dandley. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Roger Dandley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Hammersmith doesn't succeed with the takedown and Dandley counters with a takedown into side control. Dandley working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Hammersmith wants to control but Dandley postures up. Hammersmith tries to buck Dandley off but Dandley is having none of it. Hammersmith sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Hammersmith actively working from the bottom here. Hammersmith slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Dandley trying to control but Hammersmith is working from the bottom. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dandley is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Dandley postures up.
Dandley thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Hammersmith has his feet on Dandley's thighs here. He's pushed Dandley off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Dandley screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
