Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alex Daze! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Bosh! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yuuki Gou and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Daze gets caught flat footed, as Bosh shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Bosh drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Daze manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Bosh has Daze in his guard. Bosh has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Daze off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Alex Daze seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Daze fails with an attempt to clinch.
Bosh closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bosh lands in his opponent's guard. Bosh postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Daze utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Bosh throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Daze works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Daze looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bosh is one step ahead there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bosh is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Daze keeping moving, preventing Bosh from controlling successfully. Bosh has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Bosh won't allow Daze to get back to his feet. Bosh has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Daze is proving hard to escape from. Daze is looking to stand up but Bosh isn't so interested in that idea. Daze is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Bosh misses with a wild combination.
Daze is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Bosh tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bosh keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Daze is breathing heavily. Bosh closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bosh lands in his opponent's guard. Bosh wants to control from the top but Daze keeps moving. Bosh gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Bosh looks to clinch and Daze counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Daze. Daze landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Daze obliges. Bosh drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Bosh tries to pull guard but Daze won't allow it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bosh pushes off an throws an elbow but Daze leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Daze unloads a knee to the mid-section. Bosh lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Bosh trying to stall but Daze improves his position.
Bosh fails to pull guard.
Alex Daze has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Bosh. Knees in the clinch landing for Daze.
Daze unloads a knee to the mid-section. Daze breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Daze moves into range and clinches up with Bosh. Bosh tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Daze smiles and moves away.
Bosh clinches but Daze breaks the clinch so Daze counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Alex Daze will probably get the nod. That's time! Daze's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Daze clinches. Bosh is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Daze is defending well for now. Bosh tries to circle away but Daze has him pinned against the cage. Daze throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Bosh blocks it with crossed arms. Daze breaks from the clinch.
Daze tries to clinch but Bosh moves out of range. Bosh wants to clinch so Daze counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Bosh trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Daze postures up in Bosh's guard and throws a big left but Bosh blocks it. Daze is fighting to break Bosh's control of his arms but Bosh is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Let's hope that Bosh has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Daze throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bosh works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Bosh bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Daze's guard. Daze trying to control the position.
John Bosh has got the better of the ground game so far. Bosh stands and steps away. Daze gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Daze tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bosh swats him away and circles back towards the center. Daze scores a takedown into full mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bosh tries to lock up and control but Daze gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Bosh manages to regain half guard. Good work. Bosh is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Daze's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Daze's back! Bosh controlling from the back. Bosh throwing damaging strikes from the back! Daze could be in trouble here!
Daze looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Bosh is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bosh lands a shot to the head. Bosh slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Daze manages to get to his feet, escaping the difficult position. Bosh tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Daze paws at him with a jab and circles away. Bosh tries to clinch but Daze moves away and Daze moves into the clinch. Bosh with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Bosh jumps guard but Daze stands there with Bosh around his waist. Bosh gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Daze shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Bosh counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Bosh lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Bosh content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Daze is trying to stand.
Bosh seems to be looking for submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round. Bosh is looking to advance position but Daze won't allow it. Daze pushes Bosh off looking to stand but Bosh dives back in and keeps control.
Still in half guard, Bosh seems content to control. Bosh throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Bosh seems to be looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Bosh misses with a head shot. Daze uses the momentum to regain guard. Bosh stands up from guard. Let's bang! Bosh tries for a takedown but Daze circles away easily and Daze counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Daze not landing any meaningful shots this time. Daze thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Bosh striking from half guard on the bottom. Bosh manages to escape and get back to his feet!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bosh scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Bosh passes to full mount! Bosh fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Daze tries to reverse the position but Bosh maintains control. Bosh sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Bosh lands a big shot there that rocks Daze but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Bosh controlling from the full mount. Bosh looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Daze wants to control but Bosh is having none of it. Bosh with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Daze can't escape the position.
Alex Daze is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. John Bosh has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Daze is trying to reverse the position but instead Bosh has taken his back - oops!
