Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gerald Watson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bert Jonesy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bert Jonesy struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 206.5lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gerald Watson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bert Jonesy! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jonesy keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Watson tries to score with a low kick but Jonesy moves his leg out of the way. Watson throws a half hearted mid kick. Watson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Watson with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Watson trying to control from half guard but Jonesy is working away. Watson missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Watson is pressing down on Jonesy's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jonesy is holding on for now. Jonesy is staying active underneath Watson, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Watson thows a huge punch but Jonesy dodges it nicely.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. No luck with that takedown attempt from Watson. Watson fails with the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gerald Watson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Good work by Jonesy as he checks the leg kick. Watson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jonesy's guard. Jonesy avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Watson scoring with punches to the head and body. Watson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Watson trying to control but Jonesy is working from the bottom. Jonesy has his hands on Watson's head, controlling the position. Jonesy looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jonesy keeping moving, preventing Watson from controlling successfully. Watson showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Watson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Jonesy is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Watson defends well. Jonesy working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Watson.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Watson trying to control but Jonesy is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Watson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jonesy swivels though and keeps the full guard.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Watson throws a wild body kick that Jonesy sees coming a mile off. Watson pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Watson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jonesy regains half guard there - taking advantage of Watson's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Watson works his way into side control. Watson is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jonesy takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Watson throws a body kick that misses. Watson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jonesy sprawls well initially but Watson persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Watson is taking a breather. Jonesy says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Watson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jonesy for as long as he can get away with. Jonesy is breathing heavily. Watson frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Watson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Watson landing punches. Watson trying to control but he's not successful this time. Watson sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Watson putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Watson has control of Jonesy's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jonesy regains control of the situation pretty easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Watson controlling the pace for now. Jonesy is squirming around, avoiding Watson's attempts to control the action. Watson content just to control the position here. A nice elbow there by Watson.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Watson breaks from Jonesy's wrist control and lands an elbow. Watson thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Watson is stalling here but it's allowed Jonesy to get half guard.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Gerald Watson just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Watson looks to land a body kick but Jonesy moved away. Bert Jonesy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Watson tries to work over Jonesy's front leg with a kick but Jonesy checks it. Gerald Watson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Watson moves out of range of the body kick from Jonesy.

He's got his arms around Jonesy's waist but Jonesy gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Watson off to one side. Watson misses with a kick to the body.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Watson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jonesy's head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Watson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jonesy's waist but Jonesy gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Watson off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gerald Watson. That's going to take a lot out of him. A chopping leg kick lands by Watson. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Watson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jonesy tries to avoid it but Watson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jonesy to the ground. Jonesy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Watson throws a lazy body kick and Jonesy counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Watson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jonesy tries to avoid it but Watson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jonesy to the ground. Jonesy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Watson looks for the body kick but Jonesy saw that one coming.
That's one minute gone in the round. Excellent takedown into side control there by Watson. Watson wants to control but Jonesy is keeping him busy. Watson trying to control the position from guard on top but Jonesy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Watson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Watson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jonesy is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Watson, into his guard. Gerald Watson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Jonesy looking to pass the guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Watson seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Jonesy throws and elbow that misses. Watson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jonesy's guard. Nice move by Watson!
And that's the end of the fight! Gerald Watson showed his dominance in that final round. Well Watson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
