Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mark Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Shlemenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mark Penn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Shlemenko! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Ivan Kurochkin and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shlemenko tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Penn paws at him with a jab and circles away. Shlemenko displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Penn. Shlemenko shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Penn napping and manages to drive through into side control! Shlemenko is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Penn sneaks back into half guard. Shlemenko stands up from half guard. Penn tries for a takedown but Shlemenko circles away easily and Shlemenko counters with a flying knee that sends his opponent to the canvas! Shlemenko looking to finish!
Penn is rocked! Penn wants to sweep but no luck.
That's one minute gone in the round. Penn looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Shlemenko stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Penn swivels though and keeps the full guard. Penn working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shlemenko doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shlemenko manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Penn looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Penn manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Penn landing strikes from the mount and Shlemenko is in trouble! Shlemenko blocking the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. A nice elbow there by Penn. Shlemenko wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Penn.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Penn lands with some strikes. A nice elbow there by Penn. Shlemenko tries to reverse the position but Penn maintains control. Penn breaks from Shlemenko's wrist control and lands an elbow. A nice elbow there by Penn. Penn unloading with bombs! Penn fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Penn cracks Shlemenko with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Penn is breathing heavily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Penn lands a heavy elbow. Shlemenko tries to lock up and control but Penn gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Penn working Shlemenko over with strikes here. Penn scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Penn has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Penn working for a submission but Shlemenko is keeping him at bay. Shlemenko can't escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Penn cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Penn unloading with bombs! Penn dominating with strikes here. Penn lands a heavy elbow. Shlemenko wants to control but Penn is having none of it. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Penn pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Penn postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Shlemenko looks a forlorn figure.

Penn moves out of range of the body kick. Shlemenko rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Penn moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Penn misses with a takedown attempt and Shlemenko counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Penn looking for submissions off his back. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Shlemenko decides to stand and escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Shlemenko got a little sloppy there for a moment and Penn has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Shlemenko has managed to get both his arms back between Penn's legs - danger averted. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Penn looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Shlemenko must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Penn is looking for a triangle here but Shlemenko uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Shlemenko decides to stand up, so the ref orders Penn to his feet. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Shlemenko tries to clinch up but Penn circles away and keeps his distance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shlemenko goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Shlemenko tries to clinch up but Penn circles away and keeps his distance. Penn takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Penn swats away the attempt to clinch by Shlemenko. Shlemenko moves in looking to clinch but Penn pushes him off.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Shlemenko wants to clinch. Shlemenko shoots and misses and Penn counters with a shoot takedown. Shlemenko fights it but they end up in guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Penn's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Penn pushes down on Shlemenko's leg and manages to get into half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Penn is pressing down on Shlemenko's thigh, looking to free his foot. Shlemenko is holding on for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alexander Shlemenko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Penn takes a body punch but keeps moving. Penn shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Penn showed some decent athleticism there.

Shlemenko takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Shlemenko throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. BOOM! Penn connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Shlemenko is trying to get back to full guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Penn looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Penn slips a nice elbow through Shlemenko's hands, connecting with Shlemenko's forehead.
