PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rich Van Clam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesus Jordan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jordan has chosen Also Sprach Zarathustra as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Rich Van Clam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jesus Jordan!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Chris Edwards and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A good leg kick by Van Clam.

Jordan instigates a clinch.
Jordan blocks the elbow strike.
Van Clam tries to pull guard but Jordan holds him up against the cage and eventually Van Clam drops back down to his feet.

Jordan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Van Clam shoots in for a double leg but Jordan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Jordan takes one to the side of the head.
Van Clam fails with an attempt to clinch.
Van Clam checks the leg kick.
Jordan misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Jordan darts in and clinches Van Clam up against the cage.
Jordan fails to pull guard.
Jordan prevents Van Clam from breaking the clinch.

Jordan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Van Clam clinches but Jordan breaks the clinch

and Jordan counters with a single leg into guard. Van Clam didn't expect that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jordan gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Van Clam has his takedown stuffed

and Jordan decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Van Clam's guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rich Van Clam. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jordan trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Van Clam working a defensive guard but Jordan passes into half guard.
Jordan looks gassed!
Jordan is tying to control. Van Clam wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Van Clam pushes Jordan off looking to stand but Jordan dives back in and keeps control.
Jordan trying to mount his opponent but Van Clam defends it.
Jordan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Van Clam does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Van Clam is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jordan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jordan's back!

A lull in the action here.
Jordan tries to roll but Van Clam sticks to his back.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Van Clam's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
I really don't envy Jordan right now.

Van Clam keeps control of the position easily here as Jordan tries to buck him off.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jordan controlling his opponent's hands, preventing the submission attempt.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Van Clam is throwing strikes by Jordan counters by rolling into a better position. After a scramble, Jordan regains half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jesus Jordan dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Jordan tries to clinch up but Van Clam circles away and keeps his distance.

and Jordan holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Jordan fails to pull guard.
Van Clam changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Jordan fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Van Clam closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Van Clam lands in his opponent's guard.
Van Clam tries to free his leg and advance position but Jordan is retaining full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jordan has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Van Clam doesn't defend quickly enough and Jordan has managed to lock this one up! Can Van Clam escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Jordan on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jesus Jordan!
