Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Royce Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva tests Gracie's chin there with a solid looking shot.


It looks like Royce Gracie has been cut.

Silva takes the fight into the clinch.

Silva jumps into guard, dragging Gracie to the mat.
Silva manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gracie manages to get himself to full guard.
Silva knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground.

Silva lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Silva is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Gracie has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Silva can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Gracie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Silva gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Gracie is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Silva with a flurry of punches that miss.
Gracie looks gassed!

Silva gets to his feet. Gracie looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Silva is defended easily by Gracie.

Silva shoots in and bounces Gracie off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Silva throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Silva drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Silva lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Silva is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie is breathing heavily.

Silva tries to free his leg and advance position but Gracie is retaining full guard.
Silva postures up in Gracie's guard and throws a big left but Gracie blocks it.
Silva slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Silva thows a big elbow that misses.
Silva stays in close to Gracie's body and controls the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Silva stands up from Gracie's guard - Silva perhaps looking for a knockout.

Silva gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Silva manages to break the clinch.

Silva scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Silva remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

That's time! Silva's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Silva drives through with a takedown into guard.

Gracie takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Silva stands and throws Gracie's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Gracie manages to get back to half guard.
Still in half guard, Silva seems content to control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Anderson Silva just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Silva gets a clinch.

Silva breaks from the clinch.
Anderson Silva is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Silva moves into the clinch.

Silva has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Gracie is trying to keep an underhook but Silva manages to get the takedown into half guard.
