Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Karl Katze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stevie Midgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Midgar comes into a darkened arena with his song building. I am a Real American - Rick Derringer kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Stevie Midgar will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Karl Katze! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stevie Midgar! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Russell Pearce and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Katze fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Midgar sprawls well initially but Katze persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Katze is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Midgar doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Katze. Katze wants to pass to mount but Midgar is defending the position. Midgar tries to roll over but Katze keeps him under control. Katze trying to control from half guard but Midgar is working away. Katze controlling the action here. Katze sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Midgar defending well though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Midgar trying to control but Katze postures up.
Katze is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Katze shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Katze showed some decent athleticism there. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Katze lands a nice short elbow. Katze scoring with strikes to the body and head. Katze content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Katze is looking to stall here but Midgar recovers full guard. Katze seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Midgar controlling the position. Katze's corner is telling him to maintain position. Midgar not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Katze throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Katze trying to control the position from guard on top but Midgar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Midgar is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Katze stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Midgar swivels though and keeps the full guard. Katze drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Katze jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Katze shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Midgar as he jumps to the side.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Midgar tries to clinch but Katze is having none of it. Midgar doesn't manage to clinch there - Katze circles away.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Katze. Midgar wants to clinch up but Katze keeps it at a distance. Midgar tries to clinch there but Katze circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Midgar is fighting off a takedown attempt but Katze is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Midgar to the mat. Midgar regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Katze tries to free his leg and advance position but Midgar is retaining full guard. Katze passes into half guard. Katze passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Midgar! Midgar is looking to improve his position but Katze isn't that keen on the idea. Midgar is squirming around, avoiding Katze's attempts to control the action. Midgar is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Katze has taken his back.
Katze has the hooks in. Midgar is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Karl Katze dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Midgar tries to clinch and Katze counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Katze controlling from the top position. Katze trying to control but Midgar is working from the bottom. Katze will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Katze tries to free his leg and advance position but Midgar is retaining full guard. Katze slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Katze trying to control the position but Midgar is working away. Katze is trying to get an arm triangle but Midgar is defending well. Midgar is not content to let Katze control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Midgar is being controlled here. Katze misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Katze in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Katze cracks Midgar with a big right hand but Midgar just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Katze is trying to get an arm triangle but Midgar is defending well. Midgar is looking for a sweep. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Katze landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Midgar tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Katze in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Katze trying to control the action but Midgar is working from the bottom. You can see the frustration on Midgar's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Midgar clinches but Katze breaks the clinch and Katze counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Katze seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Katze is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Midgar is just riding it out for now. Katze eventually gives up the hold. Midgar is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Katze seems to be working for a kimura but Midgar defends the submission attempt. Karl Katze overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Katze is looking to take a break and control but Midgar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Midgar has hold of Katze's hands but Katze slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Midgar is controlling Katze's position as best he can from this difficult position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Katze throws a right and a left that both miss. Katze shoots in for a takedown but Midgar shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Midgar tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Katze counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Katze. Katze has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Midgar uses from the top position. Katze is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Katze is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Midgar is aware though and is defending well. Katze has his foot on Midgar's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Midgar works his way back into a safe position though. Midgar tries to free his leg and advance position but Katze is retaining full guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Midgar postures up.

Midgar can't keep his opponent in guard - Katze advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Katze wants to lay and pray for a moment but Midgar keeps working. Katze prevents Midgar from standing back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Midgar avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Katze. Katze missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Katze is trying to control. Midgar wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Midgar moves in looking to clinch but Katze pushes him off. Katze swats away the attempt to clinch by Midgar. Katze looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Midgar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Katze looking to pass the guard. Katze trying to control but Midgar is working from the bottom.

Katze tries to control but Midgar wriggling away. Midgar tries to hold on but Katze pushes him away. Katze sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Midgar is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Midgar is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Katze is staying active. Katze tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Midgar tries to get back to half guard but can't. Katze sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Midgar can't escape the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Karl Katze showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Katze, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
