The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sum Gy keeps control of Painija as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Painija wants the takedown. Sum Gy is fighting it off but Painija persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Sum Gy's guard against the cage.

Sum Gy escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Painija gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Painija avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Sum Gy is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Painija is trying to control but can't.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Painija can do anything to dispel that myth.

Sum Gy wants to work for an arm triangle but Painija is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Sum Gy had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Painija is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Sum Gy Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Painija's back instead.
Painija really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sum Gy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
