Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tatsuya Komada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Reaper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Komada kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Little Busters. 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Reaper! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reaper misses with a jab, cross combination.
Reaper scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Reaper slips a jab and a cross from Komada.
Komada avoids the head kick by Reaper.
Komada throws a right hand that Reaper ducks under and follows up with a left that Reaper also avoids with ease. Nice sprawl there from Reaper as Komada shoots in. Reaper throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Komada rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Reaper moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Reaper keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Reaper swings for the body but Komada moves out of range.
Komada fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Reaper throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Komada stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Reaper misses with a two punch combination.
Nice sprawl there from Komada as Reaper shoots in. Some wild striking there from Komada.
Reaper rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Komada moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Reaper throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reaper lands a slapping body shot.
Reaper misses with a jab, cross combination.
John Reaper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Komada staying out of range there. Komada gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Reaper to score an easy takedown into full guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Reaper throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Reaper wants to control from the top but Komada keeps moving. Reaper has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Reaper works a leg free and moves into half guard. Reaper misses with a head shot. Komada uses the momentum to regain guard. Komada working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Reaper.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Reaper postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Reaper looking to pass the guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Komada is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Reaper tries to free his leg and advance position but Komada is retaining full guard. Komada is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. A left and a right from Reaper both land. Nice combination.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Reaper misses the shot to the body. Komada scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Reaper is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Komada off and has taken his back! Komada trying to control the hands but Reaper breaks the grip. Reaper throwing wild punches that miss their target. Reaper connects with a big shot to the side of Komada's head.
Reaper is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Komada up.
Komada is breathing heavily. Komada defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
Reaper scores with punches from the back.
Reaper punches the canvas rather than the man.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Reaper misses with a punch to the head. Reaper gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes. Reaper throwing sloppy strikes. Reaper landing with strikes. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Reaper is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Komada knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Komada for a finish. Reaper looking to soften up his opponent with punches.
Reaper connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Komada to escape the position.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Reaper is persistently looking for the submission but Komada is defending it well.
Reaper misses with a punch to the head. Komada trying to control the action but Reaper just sinks the hooks in. Reaper misses with a punch to the head. Komada takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Komada knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Reaper on the ground. Reaper looking for the choke but no joy. Komada looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Reaper has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Komada! Can he survive? No! He's out! Reaper gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
