The bell rings for round one and we are underway! White shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. White showed some decent athleticism there. White is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Johnson is looking to control White's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Johnson avoid being mounted? The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Johnson is looking to improve his position.
Johnson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but White pulls his head out easily. White stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Johnson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts White as he jumps to the side. White fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Johnson sprawls well initially but White persists and gets the takedown into half guard. White seems to be looking for submissions.
Johnson wants to improve his position but White is controlling well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Still in half guard, White seems content to control. White is looking to advance position but Johnson won't allow it. Johnson is trying to maintain the position but White is very close to passing his half guard. White is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Johnson has managed to free his arm - good work. White is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Johnson regains full guard. Nicely done.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. White lands a couple of digs. Johnson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. White defends it easily. Johnson is breathing heavily. White gets to his feet - Johnson follows without any prompting. Johnson has his takedown stuffed and White counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. White is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

White takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A bit of a pause in the action here. White controlling the positon. White is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Johnson is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by White.
