Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Lex Luger! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Gyorgy Lipin! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, William Gold and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Luger connects with a crisp jab. Lipin throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Luger misses with a kick to the body.
Luger takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Luger tries to clinch up. Lipin pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Lipin scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Lipin scores with a one two! Luger had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Luger drops his hands momentarily and Lipin takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Lipin throws the left hand but Luger avoids the punch easily. Lipin uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Luger has time to react. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Luger walks into a left hand.
Luger is rocked! Luger rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lipin moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Luger fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. A looping hook to the body misses from Luger. Lipin does a little dance to reset his feet. Luger decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Luger is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Lipin as he works his way to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lipin being controlled here, momentarily. Lipin is looking to sweep but instead, Luger has passed into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lipin keeping hold of Luger's head, controlling as best he can. Luger looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Lipin is controlling Luger's position as best he can from this difficult position. Lipin keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Luger content to control rather than advance. Luger is trying to control the action in half guard but Lipin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lipin can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Luger tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Lipin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Luger. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Lipin regains full guard. Nicely done. Luger postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Luger throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lipin works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Lipin trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Luger missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Luger sitting in guard here, content to control. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Lipin holds on and takes a little breather. Lipin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Luger is one step ahead there. Luger trying to stand up but can't free himself from Lipin's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gyorgy Lipin dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Luger shoots in for a takedown but Lipin shows good takedown defense. Lex Luger is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Lipin scores with a body shot.
Luger shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Luger was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Lipin tries to hold on but Luger pushes him away. Lipin is trying to escape the mount.
Lipin tries to lock up and control but Luger gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Luger unloads with some shots from mount but Lipin bucks and avoids them well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Lipin really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Luger wants to control the pace but Lipin is squirming around nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Lipin manages to regain half guard. Good work. Lipin is trying is best to control the position here. Luger wants to pass to mount but Lipin is defending the position. Luger is just content to waste time from the top position. Lipin takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Lipin keeping full guard, as Luger tries to pass.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lipin is adopting a defensive guard. Luger won't allow Lipin to sweep him here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Luger is looking to stand up but Lipin won't let him. Lipin is trying to keep Luger in close.
Lipin wants to hit a switch here but Luger passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Lipin there! Poor strikes thrown by Luger there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gyorgy Lipin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Luger moves forwards but Lipin connects with a nice, crisp jab. Luger fails with the takedown. Lipin keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Lipin lands a jab. Lipin swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Lipin lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Lipin. Oh Luger is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
It looks like Lex Luger has been cut. Luger closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lipin circles away. Luger seems to have got his legs back now. Lipin stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lex Luger. That's going to take a lot out of him. Luger walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Luger on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
This has been an exciting period of action! Luger on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Lipin lands a slapping body shot.
Lipin connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Lipin connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
That's one minute gone in the round. Luger takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
A decent looking cross lands there for Lipin. Lipin might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Lipin connects with the punch. Lipin bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Luger's head. Lipin steps into range and cracks Luger with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Luger flops backwards and Lipin dives into his guard looking to finish!
Lipin postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Luger covers up, he's hurt! Lipin keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Lipin and the ref steps in to end the fight! Lipin can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gyorgy Lipin!
