The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Saviola lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Nice uppercut there from Spatz. Saviola shoots in and drives through. Spatz sprawls well. Nice takedown defense from Saviola. No joy for Spatz on that attempt. Karl Spatz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Esteban Saviola. Saviola drives through with a takedown into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spatz throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Spatz has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Saviola can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Spatz has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Saviola should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Spatz has tightened it up now! Saviola should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Karl Spatz!
