Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Payne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Twerin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Max Payne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Peter Twerin!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Ackerman and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Payne looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Twerin looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Payne clinches up with Twerin and pushes him back against the cage.
Payne slows down the pace here.
Twerin tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Payne lands a right hand that snaps the head of Twerin backwards.
Payne pushes Twerin back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Payne gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Twerin regains guard.

Payne gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Payne gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Payne tightens his grip and picks Twerin up, before dumping him to the ground. Twerin manages to land in guard.

Payne stands up from Twerin's guard - Payne perhaps looking for a knockout.

Twerin gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Payne lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Payne stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Payne closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Payne lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Payne has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Twerin regains guard immediately.
Payne pushing down on Twerin's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Payne has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Twerin regains half guard.
Payne sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Twerin defending well though.

Twerin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Payne is working away from the top position though.

Twerin manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Twerin connects with a solid leg kick.

Payne has Twerin up against the cage in a clinch.
Payne lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Payne has clasped his hands together around Twerin's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
You can see the frustration on Twerin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Payne has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Payne decides to stand back up. Payne steps back and let's Twerin get back to his feet.

Twerin has closed the distance and engaged Payne in a clinch.

Payne has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Twerin clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Twerin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Payne. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Payne. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!


Twerin is rocked!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Payne lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Twerin is still in real trouble! Can Payne finish him?

Payne is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Twerin has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Payne lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.
Payne connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Twerin to escape the position.
Payne lands an elbow to the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Payne.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Twerin staying busy and making it hard for Payne to control.
Payne lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
Payne tries to get the hooks in deep but Twerin pushed the leg off.
Twerin trying to control the action but Payne just sinks the hooks in.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Payne trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Twerin grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Payne looking to break Twerin's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Twerin remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Payne will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
The referee is taking a good look at Twerin as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Payne!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Max Payne dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Twerin shoots for a takedown but Payne saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Payne closes the distance and clinches.
Twerin seems to have recovered his senses.
Twerin is trying to break the clinch but Payne has him pressed against the cage.
Payne manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Payne throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Twerins head.
Twerin tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Payne has Twerin pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Payne pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Twerin tumbling to the mat - Payne dives into Twerin's guard.
Payne is working Twerin over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Twerin is working an open guard so Payne takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Max Payne seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Payne rushes Twerin and presses him up against the cage.
Payne is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Twerin can do to turn this around?
Twerin tries to pull guard but Payne won't allow it.
Max Payne has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Twerin.
Payne keeps control of Twerin as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Payne unloads a knee to the mid-section. Twerin lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Payne takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Payne is trying to trip Twerin. He has hold of a leg but Twerin is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Payne persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Payne stands up from Twerin's guard - Payne perhaps looking for a knockout.
Twerin swats away the attempt to clinch by Payne.

and Payne counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Twerin is trying to stand back up but Payne is controlling him
Payne looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Twerin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Payne is working away from the top position though.

Payne decides to stand up.

Payne fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Twerin, pushing him back against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Payne.

Payne lands a big right hand that sends Twerin to the canvas! This could be the beginning of the end for Twerin!

Payne stands up out of the half guard.

Payne has closed the distance and engaged Twerin in a clinch.
Payne digs a right hand into Twerin's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Twerin's gas tank.

Payne ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Payne no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Payne looking for a guillotine here but Twerin defends easily.
Payne bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Twerin's guard.
Payne will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Payne gets to his feet - Twerin follows without any prompting.
Max Payne is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Payne darts in trying to clinch

and Twerin counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Twerin scoring with some ground and pound.
Twerin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Payne pushes Twerin off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Payne is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Payne fails with an attempt to clinch.
Twerin closes the distance but Payne moves to the side

and Payne counters with a nice double leg into side control. Twerin won't be happy with that.
Twerin is looking to regain half guard here but Payne keeps moving and retains side control.

Payne stands up and beckons Twerin to his feet.

Payne drives through and clinches with Twerin against the cage.

Twerin is fighting off a takedown attempt but Payne is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Twerin to the mat. Twerin regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Payne slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Payne has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Payne wants to control from the top but Twerin keeps moving.

Twerin is working an open guard so Payne takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Payne tries to clinch up but Twerin circles away and keeps his distance.
Twerin swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Payne counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Max Payne dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Payne tries to close the distance and clinch but Twerin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Payne darts in and clinches Twerin up against the cage.

Payne lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Payne seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Payne is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Twerin trying to hold on to Payne's head to control him but Payne postures up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Payne not doing much here.
Twerin should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Twerin wants to control the action here but instead Payne manages to pass to full mount!

Twerin in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Payne has control of Twerin's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Twerin regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Twerin is in all sorts of trouble here.

It looks like Peter Twerin has been cut.
Twerin tries to lock up and control but Payne gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Payne landing strikes from the mount and Twerin is in trouble!


That has opened up Peter Twerin's cut even more.

Twerin tries to improve his position but Payne has taken his back! Payne has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Twerin tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Payne pushes Twerin away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Max Payne!
