The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Neumann closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Neumann lands in his opponent's guard.
Neumann controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Neumann trying to control the position from guard on top but Carwin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Neumann stops Carwin from standing up.
Neumann content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Carwin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Neumann is controlling him.
Carwin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Carwin working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Neumann.
Neumann trying to control the position from guard on top but Carwin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Carwin wants to stand and escape but Neumann is having none of it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Carwin misses with a jab, cross combination.
Neumann takes one to the side of the head.
Jab, jab by Carwin - just one landing.

Neumann decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Neumann lands strikes from half guard.
Neumann sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Carwin defending well though.
Neumann passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Carwin!
Neumann lands a big elbow.

Neumann takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Carwin looks gassed!
Neumann postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Carwin looks a forlorn figure.

It looks like Shane Carwin has been cut.

That has opened up Shane Carwin's cut even more.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
