Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dirt McGirk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGirk comes into the arena with This Is Who I Am blaring out of the sound system. Dirt McGirk has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McGirk throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. McGirk lands with a right hand.
It looks like Max Powers has been cut. McGirk swats away the attempt to clinch by Powers. McGirk scores with a nice head shot. Powers shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. McGirk keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
McGirk works the jab nicely. Powers tries to clinch but McGirk moves out of range. McGirk connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Powers fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Powers looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McGirk is fending him off so far but Powers persists. Nope, McGirk circles away and we're back to standing. Powers shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in McGirk's guard. Powers must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Powers in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McGirk keeping moving, preventing Powers from controlling successfully. McGirk is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Powers prevents McGirk from getting back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Powers tries to free his leg and advance position but McGirk is retaining full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Powers loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Powers is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Powers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McGirk swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Powers takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Powers scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Powers throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Powers slows the pace down in half guard. Powers wants to free his trapped foot but McGirk is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Powers sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. McGirk defending well though. Powers not doing much here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Good shot there by McGirk. A slow jab from McGirk misses its intended target. Powers is looking to clinch but McGirk is avoiding it.
A cross from McGirk lands. Powers is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in McGirk's half guard. Powers perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. McGirk wants to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Powers seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Powers thows a huge punch but McGirk dodges it nicely.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Powers is just content to waste time from the top position. McGirk takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nice cross by McGirk. Powers scores a takedown into full mount! Powers won't let McGirk get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. McGirk holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Powers tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Powers is in the full mount, landing strikes. A nice elbow there by Powers. Powers can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as McGirk is looking to escape. McGirk is in a horrible position here. Powers smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Powers takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Powers misses with a head shot. McGirk is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McGirk is looking to improve his position but Powers isn't that keen on the idea. Powers tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Powers lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
McGirk is bucking up trying to escape but Powers cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Powers lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Powers controlling the position easily from mount. Powers throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

A nice elbow there by Powers. Powers lands with some vicious ground and pound - can McGirk hang on? The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McGirk missing with a left hand there. Powers was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Powers takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. McGirk jabbing away but nothing is landing. A big left from McGirk misses. McGirk is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Powers. Dirt McGirk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A jab from McGirk finds it's way through Powers's defenses. Max Powers is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Powers takes one to the side of the head.
Powers slips a straight right by McGirk. McGirk scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. McGirk is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Powers changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. McGirk looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Powers connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused McGirk some visible discomfort.
McGirk is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Powers asserts his dominance and retains side control. Powers moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Powers is trying to ground and pound but McGirk uses the momentary lack of control by Powers to regain half guard. Powers looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Powers sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. McGirk defending well though. McGirk pushes Powers off looking to stand but Powers dives back in and keeps control.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Powers throws a strike but McGirk avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Powers controlling from the top position. Powers postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Powers slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. McGirk wants to stand and escape but Powers is having none of it. Powers trying to control but McGirk is working from the bottom. Powers is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. McGirk keeping moving, preventing Powers from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Powers throws a strike but McGirk rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Powers can do anything to dispel that myth. McGirk wants to stand but Powers is controlling his posture from full guard. McGirk trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. McGirk stops Powers from standing up.
And that's the end of the fight! Max Powers comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Powers has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
