Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Russell Brand (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Smiff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brand comes to the cage accompanied by Russell Brand and Katie Perry. Smiff has chosen New born as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Russell Brand! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Tony Smiff! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Ackerman and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brand motions for Smiff to come forward. Brand throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. A punch combination from Smiff misses. Brand pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nice jab there from Smiff. Smiff keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Tony Smiff seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Smiff swats away the attempt to clinch by Brand. Smiff drops his hands momentarily and Brand takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Smiff slaps away a takedown attempt from Brand, before circling back to the center of the mat. No luck for Brand with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Russell Brand. That's going to take a lot out of him. Brand avoids the body shot from Smiff.
Smiff rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Brand moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Smiff lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Brand circles away quickly and effectively. Nice sprawl there from Smiff as Brand shoots in. Brand throws a head kick that misses. Smiff thuds a left hand into Brand's body. Brand really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Brand is breathing heavily. Smiff misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Smiff works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Brand closes this distance looking for a takedown but Smiff circles away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smiff tries to bum rush Brand with a series of wild strikes but Brand uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Smiff with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Smiff swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Brand avoids a punch combination nicely.
Smiff misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Brand tries to clinch up but Smiff circles away and keeps his distance. Smiff looks for the body kick but Brand saw that one coming. Nice takedown defense from Smiff. No joy for Brand on that attempt. Smiff misses the jab. Smiff displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Brand dodges the punch combination from Smiff.

Brand shoots in for a double leg but Smiff sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Brand fails with a takedown attempt. No joy there for Smiff, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Smiff throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Brand. Brand lands with a kick to the temple. Smiff shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Smiff leaves Brand with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Brand dives in and grabs Smiff's left leg, looking for a takedown. Smiff pushes down on Brand's head and hops out. Brand misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smiff stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Smiff wants it to stay on the feet. Brand takes the fight into the clinch. Brand has had enough of the clinch but Smiff keeps him there for the moment. Brand can't break the clinch.
Smiff breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Brand throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Brand moves in looking to clinch but Smiff pushes him off. No luck with that takedown attempt from Brand. Brand scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. A good leg kick by Smiff. Brand scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Tony Smiff is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Smiff loads up on a big right hand but Brand slips the punch. Smiff throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Brand counters by clinching up. A frustrated look appears on Brand's face as he tries to break the clinch. Brand fails to pull guard.

Smiff stuffs the takedown attempt from Brand. Brand gets slowly back to his feet. Brand shoots in but Smiff avoids the takedown attempt easily. Brand fails with the takedown. Smiff is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Brand. Brand dodges the punch combination from Smiff.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smiff throws a combination that misses and Brand counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Smiff breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Brand shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smiff as he jumps to the side. Smiff misses with a few strikes there.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Brand has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Smiff works to full guard. Brand looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Brand wants to stand but Smiff has a closed guard, so he can't escape. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
