PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between G Kar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duane Bobbick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kar might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Babylon 5. The crowd seem to be enjoying Bobbick's choice of entrance music: Indestructable. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, G Kar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Duane Bobbick! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Steve Montenegro and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kar fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bobbick, pushing him back against the cage. Kar lands with a left to the head. Kar changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Bobbick fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Kar throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Bobbick is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Kar lands with a short head shot on the inside. Bobbick wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kar has him pressed against the cage. Kar gets a trip takedown into half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kar lands a nice short elbow. Kar drops an elbow to the side of Bobbick's head. Kar thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kar sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Bobbick defending well though. Kar thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Kar scoring with strikes to the body and head. Bobbick won't allow Kar to pass to mount. Kar throws a strike but Bobbick avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Kar has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Kar postures up in Bobbick's guard and throws a big left but Bobbick blocks it. Bobbick working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kar. Kar drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Bobbick dives on top into guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bobbick has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kar is proving hard to escape from. Kar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Kar keeping moving, preventing Bobbick from controlling successfully. Kar is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Bobbick rolls with it to try and escape but Kar cranks on the arm and Bobbick is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
