Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jory Myghal! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pablo Zadoff! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Myghal moves out of range as Zadoff throws a body kick.
Zadoff throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Zadoff tries a head kick but it misses.
Myghal closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Zadoff is trying to stand back up but Myghal is controlling him
Myghal stalling away here and it's allowed Zadoff to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Myghal thows a big elbow that misses. Myghal drops back looking for a leg! Zadoff is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Zadoff manages to kick Myghal off! Myghal jumps back into Zadoff's guard. Myghal lands a couple of decent looking shots. Myghal wants to pass the guard but Zadoff is keeping the position. Myghal preventing the sweep. Myghal might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Myghal throwing strikes but missing. Zadoff has momentary wrist control but Myghal slips an elbow through the middle. Myghal trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Myghal working some strikes from top position. Zadoff not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Myghal throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Myghal missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Myghal connects with a couple of short punches. Zadoff not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Zadoff looking for a sweep. Not yet Zadoff, not yet. Myghal is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Myghal throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Zadoff works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Zadoff keeping moving, preventing Myghal from controlling successfully. Zadoff is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Zadoff working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Myghal. Zadoff trying to control the position here. Myghal in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Zadoff bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Myghal's guard. Myghal is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Myghal is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Myghal working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Zadoff doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Zadoff manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Zadoff is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Zadoff looks gassed! Myghal looking to hit a scissor sweep but Zadoff is one step ahead there. Myghal lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Zadoff! Zadoff is working to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Zadoff is bucking up trying to escape but Myghal cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Myghal scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Zadoff is in a horrible position here. Myghal smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Zadoff is rocked!
It looks like Pablo Zadoff has been cut. A big strike lands for Myghal! That's really hurt Zadoff and he's turned his back - Myghal keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Myghal jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
