Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joel de la Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karim Chamakh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chamakh is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Linda Sundblad - To All My Girls. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joel de la Cruz!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Karim Chamakh!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Sergei Dronov and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chamakh closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. de la Cruz did well to prevent Chamakh getting side control.
Chamakh is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The referee asks Chamakh politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Chamakh prefers to stall for the moment though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
de la Cruz is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Chamakh is controlling him well.

de la Cruz sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chamakh slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



de la Cruz gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Chamakh to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Chamakh takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
de la Cruz tries to hold on but Chamakh pushes him away.
Chamakh is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. de la Cruz is in real trouble.
Chamakh has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of de la Cruz's body.

Chamakh must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Well Chamakh has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
