Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Israel Gordon!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lonnie Tolbert!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gordon shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tolbert sprawls well. Tolbert wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gordon gets slowly back to his feet.
Tolbert fails in his attempt to clinch.
Tolbert tries to clinch but Gordon moves out of range.
Tolbert lands a left and a right that send Gordon crashing to the mat, dazed. Tolbert thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
It looks like Israel Gordon has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
No luck for Tolbert with that takedown attempt.
Tolbert throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gordon was covering up waiting for the punch and Tolbert finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Tolbert with a nice head shot there.
Tolbert is looking to work some ground and pound but Gordon has wrist control.
Gordon tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Tolbert got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gordon has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Tolbert has managed to get both his arms back between Gordon's legs - danger averted.
Tolbert throwing strikes but missing.
Tolbert with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Tolbert trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's one minute gone in the round.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Tolbert accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Tolbert trying to control the position from guard on top but Gordon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Gordon has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Tolbert doesn't defend quickly enough and Gordon has managed to lock this one up! Can Tolbert escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Gordon on a fantastic submission victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Israel Gordon!
