PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Boogie Mann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Boogie Mann!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Aaron Lee!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lee closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lee lands in his opponent's guard.
Mann trying to control the position.
Lee controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lee passes into half guard.
Lee throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Mann is in trouble now - Lee has advanced to mount!
Lee controlling the pace for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mann tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Mann is in a horrible position here. Lee smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Mann tries to hold on but Lee postures up.
Lee pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Lee tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Lee has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Mann is in a horrible position here. Lee smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Mann wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Mann is breathing heavily.
Lee controls the position.
I looks like Lee might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aaron Lee dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Lee changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mann looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Mann tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Lee presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Lee gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Lee feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Lee stands up from Mann's guard - Lee perhaps looking for a knockout.
Mann doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Lee counters with a takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lee is chipping away with strikes.
Lee is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Mann's shoulder. That is not cool.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lee passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Mann!
Lee takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Despite being in the dominant position, Aaron Lee just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mann chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Lee can pounce on him.

Lee bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The referee asks Lee politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Lee prefers to stall for the moment though.
Lee working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Mann gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Lee is landing with some decent strikes but Mann is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lee lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Lee controlling the pace for now.
Lee lands a big shot there that rocks Mann but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Mann knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lee on the ground.

Mann is trying desperately to improve position.
Lee scores with a couple of good head shots there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lee content just to control the position here.

Lee tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lee landing strikes from the mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aaron Lee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Mann doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Lee counters with a takedown into side control.
Lee landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Mann is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Lee is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Lee stands up from mount. Strange move.
Lee has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Lee.
Lee cracks Mann with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lee cracks Mann with a big right hand but Mann just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Lee slows the pace down.
Mann tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Lee wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Mann trying to remain calm as Lee controls from the top position.

Lee stands up.

Lee feints and as Mann raises his hands in defense, Lee changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lee works a leg free and moves into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lee trying to control the pace.

Lee in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Mann tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Lee!
