The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Matej fails to land the takedown. Matej throws a sloppy head kick and Roughneck moves out of range easily. Roughneck stuffs the takedown attempt from Matej. Matej gets slowly back to his feet. Roughneck pushes Matej up against the cage in a clinch. Matej ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Matej no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Matej is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Matej controlling the action here. Matej wants to pass to mount but Roughneck is defending the position. Matej is keen to just control but Roughneck is a slippery customer. Matej might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Roughneck kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Roughneck wants to get back to full guard.

Come on Roughneck, up you get! Matej closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Roughneck did well to prevent Matej getting side control. Roughneck tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Matej has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Roughneck is trying to escape the mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Matej trying to control but Roughneck is having none of it. Matej is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Roughneck to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Roughneck shrugs it off. Roughneck wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Matej wants to pass the guard but Roughneck is defending well. Matej is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Matej scores with a push kick. Matej fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Roughneck avoids it really well and circles away. Matej ducks under a wild hook from Roughneck. Roughneck with a lazy takedown attempt and Matej counters with a nice uppercut. Roughneck with a poor takedown and Matej counters into the clinch. Nicely done. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jan Roughneck. That's going to take a lot out of him. Roughneck jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Matej walks away with a smile on his face. Roughneck gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Matej moves into the clinch successfully.

Matej uses his free foot to push down on Roughneck's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Roughneck.

Matej looking to control but Roughneck is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Roughneck is desperately trying to improve his position but Matej has a good base and remains in mount. Matej avoids the attempt from Roughneck to control. Roughneck wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. Matej throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage. Roughneck wants to escape the position.
Roughneck is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Matej gets his way!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Roughneck postures up in Matej's guard and throws a big left but Matej blocks it. Matej has his hands on Roughneck's head, controlling the position. Roughneck has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Matej is proving hard to escape from. Roughneck with a nice head shot there. Roughneck wants to control from the top but Matej keeps moving. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Matej is on top in guard.

Mettew Matej showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Matej stops Roughneck from standing up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Matej working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Roughneck working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Matej doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Matej manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Matej stands up from Roughneck's guard - Matej perhaps looking for a knockout. Matej throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Roughneck was covering up waiting for the punch and Matej finishes the takedown easily into guard. Roughneck is trying to keep Matej in close.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Horrible takedown by Matej or perhaps it was just good defense by Roughneck which made him look bad. Roughneck scores with a kick to the midsection. Roughneck scores with a spinning back kick! Matej looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Matej is thwarting Roughneck's attempts to control the position. Matej postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Roughneck to stand up. Roughneck shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Matej counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Matej tries to pass to full mount but Roughneck defends it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Roughneck wants to get back to his feet. Roughneck regains full guard. Nicely done. Roughneck had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Matej defends it easily. Roughneck looking for a guillotine here but Matej defends easily.
Matej must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Roughneck trying to keep a closed guard but Matej is proving a slippery customer.
