The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
newalu gets caught flat footed, as Conrad shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
newalu is working an open guard so Conrad takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
newalu gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Conrad counters by clinching up.
newalu looking for a takedown.
newalu fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Bruce Conrad has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of ed newalu.
newalu jumps guard but Conrad stands there with newalu around his waist. newalu gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
newalu tries to pull guard but Conrad won't allow it.
newalu is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
newalu is fighting off a takedown attempt but Conrad is just too persistent for him and manages to trip newalu to the mat. newalu regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

newalu shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Conrad decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in newalu's guard.

newalu is trying to control Conrad's posture. Conrad takes advantage of the lull and advances to side control. He also appears to have an arm triangle here! Uh oh, big trouble for newalu! Conrad is rotating here... this could be the end... newalu is out! Conrad has ended this one emphatically! Great submission!
