The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drago misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Bruno Drago seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Drago looks for the body kick but Materazzi saw that one coming.

Drago stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Materazzi seems to have recovered his senses.
Drago darts in and clinches Materazzi up against the cage.

Marco Materazzi's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Drago has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Materazzi regains guard immediately.

Drago tries to close the distance and clinch up but Materazzi swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Drago throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Drago scores with a decent looking hook.
Materazzi swings for the body but Drago moves out of range.

and Materazzi counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

and Drago counters with a three punch combo that has Materazzi backing up. Materazzi nods at Drago to acknowledge the strikes.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Marco Materazzi's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
