Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Nutz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alejanrdo Cordoba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johnny Nutz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alejanrdo Cordoba!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Alyssa Summers and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nutz gets a takedown into half guard.

Nutz is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cordoba doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Nutz.

Nutz lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Nutz scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Cordoba tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Nutz is working for a kimura but Cordoba is defending it quite comfortably.
Cordoba has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nutz is working away from the top position though.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Nutz lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Nutz is trying to control. Cordoba wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Nutz is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Nutz is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cordoba doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Nutz.
Nutz wants to free his trapped foot but Cordoba is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Nutz is nestled in close to Cordoba, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Nutz lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Nutz is looking to take a break and control but Cordoba is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nutz working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Nutz is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Cordoba defends it well.

Cordoba is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Nutz pulls his head out easily.
Still in half guard, Nutz seems content to control.

Nutz seems to be working for a kimura but Cordoba defends the submission attempt.
Nutz looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cordoba with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Cordoba is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Nutz seems to be working for a kimura but Cordoba defends the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Nutz feints and as Cordoba raises his hands in defense, Nutz changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Cordoba escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nutz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Cordoba working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nutz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nutz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Nutz wants to control from the top but Cordoba keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cordoba is looking for a triangle but Nutz pushes his legs off easily.
Cordoba is breathing heavily.
Nutz with a nice head shot there.
Nutz stands up over Cordoba, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Nutz's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Nutz working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Cordoba's head.

Nutz working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Nutz makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Nutz drops back looking for a leg! Cordoba is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cordoba manages to kick Nutz off! Nutz jumps back into Cordoba's guard.

Cordoba looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Cordoba has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nutz can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Nutz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Nutz trying to control the position from guard on top but Cordoba is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Cordoba is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Nutz with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Johnny Nutz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Nutz stalks Cordoba and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Cordoba's face. Cordoba staggers backwards, shaken.

Cordoba gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Nutz to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Nutz thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Nutz's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Nutz is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Nutz is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Cordoba keeping moving, preventing Nutz from controlling successfully.
Nutz with a flurry of punches that miss.
Nutz landing with the ground and pound.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Cordoba shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Cordoba has isolated one of Nutz's arms. Nutz looking to fight him off but Cordoba twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Alejanrdo Cordoba!
