Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike Savage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wing Kong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kong has a takedown stuffed.

Savage closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Savage lands in his opponent's guard.
Kong looking to hit a scissor sweep but Savage is one step ahead there.
Savage trying to control the position from guard on top but Kong is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kong controls Savage momentarily but Savage frees himself.
Kong keeping moving, preventing Savage from controlling successfully.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Kong postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Savage looks a forlorn figure.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Savage takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Oh Savage is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Savage seems to have got his legs back now.
Kong wants to stand up but Savage has a hold of him and won't allow it.

and Savage counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Kong is staying active underneath Savage, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Kong wants to stand and escape but Savage is having none of it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kong with a poor takedown

and Savage counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Savage.
Savage throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Kongs head.
Kong is trying to break the clinch but Savage has him pressed against the cage.
Kong tries to pull guard but Savage holds him up against the cage and eventually Kong drops back down to his feet.
A left hand lands to the body for Savage.
Savage tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Savage tries for a takedown. No joy.

Savage breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Savage bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Kong tries to buck Savage off but Savage is having none of it.
Savage tries to score with some ground and pound. Kong controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Kong struggling a bit here.
Kong is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kong gets back to full guard.
Kong wants to stand and escape but Savage is having none of it.
Savage wants to pass the guard but Kong is keeping the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Savage fails to land the takedown.
Kong closes this distance looking for a takedown but Savage circles away.

Savage clinches up against the cage.
Savage has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kong is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Savage jumps guard but Kong stands there with Savage around his waist. Savage gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Savage. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kong is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Kong passes Savage's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Savage manages to get to full guard.

Savage is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Kong frees his head nicely. Oh but Savage has switched to an armbar! Kong is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
