Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xander Ralphinski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Mir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xander Ralphinski!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ralphinski misses with a body kick.

Ralphinski lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Ralphinski digs a good body shot into Mir's ribs.

Mir shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Ralphinski is trying to defend but Mir finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mir in particular looking to stall.
Mir seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Mir is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ralphinski defends it well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mir is nestled in close to Ralphinski, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Mir takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Mir takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Mir is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Ralphinski to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ralphinski shrugs it off.
Mir won't let Ralphinski get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Mir is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Ralphinski has managed to escape the submission attempt.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Mir shoots in and bounces Ralphinski off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Mir doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Mir throws a right and a left that Ralphinski avoids nicely.
Both fighters circling a little - Ralphinski finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Good leg kick by Ralphinski there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Mir tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

enabling Ralphinski to counter with a crisp jab.
Ralphinski connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Ralphinski tries to bum rush Mir with a series of wild strikes but Mir uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Mir moves into the clinch.

Mir works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Mir is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Ralphinski isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Mir stacks Ralphinski on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Mir!

Mir tries to move to mount but Ralphinski blocks the move with his legs.
Mir works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Mir has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Ralphinski shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Ralphinski does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

so Mir counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Ralphinski working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mir doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mir manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mir stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ralphinski swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Ralphinski misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A nice combination there by Ralphinski.
Frank Mir is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ralphinski lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Mir on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Ralphinski. Ralphinski obviously looking to wear him down.
Ralphinski buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mir is stalling in the full guard.

Mir trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Ralphinski manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Frank Mir overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Xander Ralphinski has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Mir has his feet on Ralphinski's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Mir checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mir gets to his feet. Ralphinski looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

A solid leg kick lands there for Ralphinski.
Mir misses with a hook to the body
and Mir takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Mir checks a leg kick nicely.
Ralphinski is looking to chop away at Mir's legs.

Mir feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Mir gets to his feet. Ralphinski looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Mir passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Ralphinski!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Mir has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight!
Frank Mir showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mir, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
