Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Johny Lock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Shardlow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johny Lock! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Shardlow! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lock is defended easily by Shardlow. Lock blocks a low kick nicely. Lock ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Shardlow moves away. Lock throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Shardlow throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Lock misses with a series of wild punches.
Shardlow leaves Lock with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Nice defenses there by Lock. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lock will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johny Lock. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lock throws a push kick but Shardlow slaps the foot to one side. Shardlow uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lock.
The fight stays on the outside here - Shardlow looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's one minute gone in the round. A head kick from Lock lands but Shardlow takes it in his stride. Lock swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Shardlow throws a sloppy head kick and Lock moves out of range easily. Steve Shardlow is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Shardlow gets off balance looking for a body kick and Lock counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Shardlow works his way to full guard. Good work. Shardlow really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lock. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Shardlow working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Lock. Shardlow wants to sweep here but Lock controlling him for the moment. Lock drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Shardlow dives on top into guard. Shardlow wants to pass the guard but Lock is keeping the position. Lock has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Shardlow is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lock manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Lock jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Shardlow is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Shardlow and Lock has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Lock wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shardlow keeps working.
That's three minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Shardlow's face as Lock controls the position. Lock is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Shardlow is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Shardlow tries to buck Lock off but Lock is having none of it. Lock wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shardlow keeps working. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shardlow is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Lock tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Lock tries a head kick but it misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Lock cracks Shardlow with an open hand slap. Lock avoids the head kick by Shardlow.
Steve Shardlow seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lock avoids the head kick by Shardlow.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Shardlow uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lock.
Lock moves out of range as Shardlow throws a body kick.

Lock darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Lock tries to pass the half guard into mount. Shardlow knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Lock is trying to control. Shardlow wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Shardlow trying to control here.

Johny Lock dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Shardlow scores with a nice head shot. Shardlow instigates a clinch. Shardlow is pressed up against the cage. Lock has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Shardlow down to the mat. Shardlow avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Lock throws a body kick that misses. Lock swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Shardlow lands a head kick. Lock smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Shardlow throws a head kick that misses. Lock scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Lock throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Lock blocks a head kick by Shardlow.
Lock wants to slow Shardlow down by chopping away at his legs. A nice inside leg kick there by Lock. That's going to slow Shardlow down.

Shardlow gets off balance looking for a body kick and Lock counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Shardlow plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! A nice combination there by Lock.
Shardlow clinches up against the cage. Shardlow pressing his opponent against the cage. Lock prevents Shardlow from breaking the clinch. Shardlow is trying to maintain a safe position but Lock gets an underhook and turns Shardlow into the cage. Lock pulls guard effortlessly. Lock is trying to control the position but Shardlow postures up. Shardlow is fighting to break Lock's control of his arms but Lock is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Shardlow controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lock throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Shardlow escapes and throws Lock's legs to the side, diving into side control! You can see the frustration on Lock's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Shardlow controlling the position from side mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lock is looking for a sweep. Shardlow controlling the position from side mount. Lock is trying to get back to half guard. Lock is letting Shardlow control him for a moment. Let's hope that Shardlow has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Lock struggling a bit here. Shardlow trying to control the action but Lock is working from the bottom. Lock can't do much from the bottom here. Lock tries to bench press Shardlow off him but Shardlow keeps the position. Shardlow happy to just control the position for now. Lock is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Steve Shardlow showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Lock checks a low kick from Shardlow. Lock is looking to wear down Shardlow with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Shardlow delivers a nice body kick. Shardlow fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Lock throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Shardlow throws a hook to the side of Lock's head but Lock sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Shardlow throws a sloppy head kick and Lock connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Lock thuds a left hand into Shardlow's body. Some wild striking there from Lock.

Lock throws a head kick that misses. Lock throws a leg kick and Shardlow counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Lock shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Shardlow as he avoids it easily. Shardlow throws a head kick that half lands.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shardlow takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Shardlow tries to clinch but Lock moves out of range. Shardlow pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Shardlow doesn't manage to clinch there - Lock circles away.
Steve Shardlow seems to be getting the better of the standup. Shardlow misses with a body kick. Shardlow with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Lock slips under a jab. Shardlow tries a head kick but it misses.
Shardlow lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Lock throws a leg kick and Shardlow counters with a head kick. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Lock!
A head kick by Shardlow misses and Lock counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Shardlow is lucky that one didn't land flush.

and Shardlow counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. A head kick by Lock misses and Shardlow counters with a nice kick to the body. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Shardlow. Lock tries to score a power double leg takedown but Shardlow sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lock somewhat. Lock throws a leg kick that is checked and Shardlow counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Lock blocks a head kick by Shardlow.
Lock throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. A head kick by Shardlow misses and Lock makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. A cross from Shardlow lands. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Lock throws a sloppy head kick and Shardlow counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Lock misses with a head kick.
Lock misses with a takedown attempt - Shardlow sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johny Lock. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lock wants to control but Shardlow is keeping him busy. Lock not landing any meaningful shots this time. Lock trying to control from half guard but Shardlow is working away. Shardlow is controlling Lock's trapped leg to prevent Lock from advancing to side control. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lock wants to free his trapped foot but Shardlow is holding on for dear life with his legs.
And that's the end of the fight! Steve Shardlow comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Shardlow has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
