The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie leaves Braz with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Braz shoots for a takedown but Gracie saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Gracie feints and as Braz raises his hands in defense, Gracie changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Gracie drops back, looking for a kneebar! Braz looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Braz looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Braz! Braz is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gracie is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Braz is trying to land an Americana. That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie tries to buck Braz off but Braz is having none of it. Gracie is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Braz asserts his dominance and retains side control. Gracie is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Braz tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Braz with a lazy takedown attempt and Gracie counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Edu Braz. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gracie is stalling here. Braz is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Gracie seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Braz has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. That's three minutes gone in the round. Braz in side control lands a decent elbow. Braz wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gracie, who protects the arm well. Braz is breathing heavily. Gracie manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Gracie lands a nice short elbow. Gracie is thwarting Braz's attempts to control the position. Gracie works his foot free and advances to mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracie looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Gracie cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Gracie!
