Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ben Howell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brandon Sinistra! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Damien Edna and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No joy there for Sinistra, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Howell throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Sinistra slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Howell throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Howell shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Sinistra manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Sinistra throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Howell passes Sinistra's left leg - he's now in half guard. Sinistra is looking to control Howell's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sinistra avoid being mounted? The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Howell is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sinistra defends it well. Howell is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Sinistra sees it coming and defends easily. Sinistra is pressing down on Howell's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Howell drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Howell jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Howell is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Sinistra is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Sinistra has escaped and now he's on top! Sinistra looking to pass the guard. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Sinistra not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Howell closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sinistra circles away. Jab by Sinistra. Howell defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sinistra. Howell will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Howell is stalling here. Sinistra is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Howell seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Sinistra has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Sinistra tries for a kimura but Howell is defending well. Howell gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Howell wants to improve his position but Sinistra is controlling well.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Sinistra is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Howell looking for a triangle here. Sinistra is fighting it but it looks tight! Howell pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Sinistra is tapping out - this one is all over!
