The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Guthrie tests Mason's chin there with a solid looking shot. No joy there for Guthrie, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Guthrie leaves Mason with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Guthrie jabbing away but nothing is landing. Guthrie scores with a shot to the body.

Guthrie keeping moving, preventing Mason from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Guthrie thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Mason will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Mason. That's going to take a lot out of him. Some wild striking there from Guthrie.

David Guthrie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Mark Mason's cut. That's time! Mason's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Mason shoots for a takedown but Guthrie saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Guthrie lands a left and a right that send Mason crashing to the mat, dazed. Guthrie thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Mason is rocked! BOOM! Guthrie lands a beautiful left hook that drops Mason. Mason tries to recover but Guthrie is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Mason lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
