Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jimmy Quim! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Pop Tarts! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Donald Grub and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Quim misses with a double jab.
Quim forces Tarts back against the ropes and clinches. Quim pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. No luck with that takedown attempt from Tarts. Quim feints and then cracks Tarts's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Tarts down. Tarts shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Tarts showed some decent athleticism there. Tarts wants to work for an arm triangle but Quim is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Tarts wants to pass the guard but Quim is defending well. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Quim tries to kick Tarts off but Tarts keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

That's going to take a lot out of Pop Tarts. Quim lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Quim rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Tarts moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Tarts fails with a takedown attempt. Tarts takes a body punch but keeps moving. Donk. Quim misses with a wild body shot. Tarts gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Quim makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Quim shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Tarts's guard. Tarts keeping full guard, as Quim tries to pass. Tarts is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Tarts has momentary wrist control but Quim slips an elbow through the middle.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Quim wants to get up but he can't break Tarts's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Tarts looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Quim wants to control from the top but Tarts keeps moving. Quim got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tarts has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Quim has managed to get both his arms back between Tarts's legs - danger averted. Tarts keeping moving, preventing Quim from controlling successfully.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Quim tries to bum rush Tarts with a series of wild strikes but Tarts uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Tarts with a poor takedown and Quim counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Quim.
That's six minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Quim breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Quim tries to bum rush Tarts with a series of wild strikes but Tarts uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Tarts tries for a takedown but Quim circles away easily and Quim counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Tarts has Quim pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. Quim manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Quim breaks the clinch.

Quim clinches. Quim breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Quim scores with a kick to the midsection. Tarts fails with the takedown and Quim counters with a one-two to the body.

Quim pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Tarts doesn't succeed with the takedown and Quim counters with a nice uppercut. Quim connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Tarts walks into a left hand. Quim buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

That's eight minutes gone in the round. Quim fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Some wild striking there from Quim.
Tarts with a lazy takedown attempt and Quim counters with a nice uppercut. Quim catches Tarts with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Good leg kick by Quim there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Tarts takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Tarts gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Quim counters with a nice uppercut. Tarts gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Quim to score an easy takedown into full guard. Quim controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Quim preventing the sweep. Quim has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Tarts is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Tarts throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Quim gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Quim throws a series of punches but Tarts moves out of range. Tarts misses with a takedown and Quim counters with a one-two to the body. No joy there for Quim, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Quim works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Quim is posturing up here but Tarts has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Quim tries to roll out but it's too tight and Quim has to tap! Slick submission there by Tarts!
