Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Renzo Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Mayfield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mayfield has chosen One as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Renzo Gracie has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie tries for a takedown but Mayfield sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Renzo Gracie will probably get the nod.

Mayfield looks to score with a jab to the body but Gracie is just out of range.

Gracie changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mayfield looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Mayfield manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Mayfield fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gracie manages to avoid it.
Mayfield feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Gracie has his foot on Mayfield's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mayfield works his way back into a safe position though.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gracie accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Mayfield is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Mayfield stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gracie swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mayfield drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Gracie dives on top into guard.
Gracie pushes down on Mayfield's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Gracie is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Mayfield pushes Gracie away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Gracie gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Gracie tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gracie has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
