Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Edilson Rubiera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Killer Heat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rubiera comes to the cage accompanied by ratamahatta. Killer Heat will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Edilson Rubiera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Killer Heat!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Roosa Järviläinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rubiera decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Heat trying to control here.
Rubiera is keen to just control but Heat is a slippery customer.
Heat pushes Rubiera off looking to stand but Rubiera dives back in and keeps control.
Heat is looking for a sweep. Rubiera is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Rubiera is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Heat doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rubiera.

Rubiera is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Rubiera prevents Heat from standing back up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Heat misses with a takedown attempt

and Rubiera counters with a nice double leg into side control. Heat won't be happy with that.

Heat is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Rubiera asserts his dominance and retains side control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

and Rubiera counters with a single leg into guard. Heat didn't expect that.

Rubiera wants to control from the top but Heat keeps moving.
Rubiera might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Rubiera postures up in Heat's guard and throws a big left but Heat blocks it.

Heat wants to stand up but Rubiera is controlling him.
Rubiera is looking to advance position but Heat has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Rubiera wants to pass the guard but Heat is defending well.
Rubiera throws a strike but Heat avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Heat tries to kick Rubiera off but Rubiera keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Rubiera seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Heat does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Heat shoots and misses

and Rubiera counters with a single leg into guard. Heat didn't expect that.

Rubiera passes Heat's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Heat wants to get back to his feet.
Rubiera thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Heat's head.
Edilson Rubiera overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Rubiera works his foot free and advances to mount.
Rubiera throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Heat working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Rubiera has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Heat lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Heat accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Heat with a flurry of punches that miss.
Heat postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Rubiera controls Heat momentarily but Heat frees himself.
Heat throws a strike but Rubiera rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Rubiera looking to sit in guard and control but Heat gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Rubiera not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Heat throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Heat throws a strike but Rubiera rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Rubiera is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Heat can do anything to dispel that myth.

Rubiera drops back, looking for a kneebar! Heat looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Heat looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Heat!

Rubiera regains half guard, as Heat was trying to land strikes.
Killer Heat has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rubiera is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Rubiera is staying active underneath Heat, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rubiera keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Edilson Rubiera is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
