Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mikey Powell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brijwanth J (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mikey Powell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brijwanth J!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Reed Andrews and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Powell tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but J swivels and escapes.

Powell scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Powell postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Powell tries to score with some ground and pound. J controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

J sneaks out the side door and pushes Powell away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
J throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Powell shoots for a double leg takedown but J sprawls well. He's pushed Powell's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Powell closes this distance looking for a takedown but J circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mikey Powell. That's going to take a lot out of him.

J wants to stand but Powell is controlling his arm.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
J slaps away a takedown attempt from Powell, before circling back to the center of the mat.
J stuffs the takedown attempt from Powell. Powell gets slowly back to his feet.
J stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and J wants it to stay on the feet.
Powell tries to score a power double leg takedown but J sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Powell somewhat.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Powell fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
J scores with the left hand. Powell knows he should have avoided that one.

J throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Powell sees it coming and avoids it easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Powell looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Powell has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Powell shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says J as he avoids it easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Powell throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around J's waist but J gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Powell off to one side.

Powell tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Powell shoots in looking for a takedown. J tries to sprawl out of it but Powell keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. J manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Powell shoots in and drives through. J sprawls well.
J throws a big shot that misses.

Powell looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
J is trying to stand.
J blocking the ground and pound attempt from Powell.
J is trying to stand.
Powell landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Powell not landing any meaningful shots this time.
J wants to get back to his feet.
Powell looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks J with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mikey Powell.
I think Powell has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
