Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Leeroy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Kaplan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leeroy comes into the arena with Boondocks Theme Song blaring out of the sound system. Kaplan is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Tenderness by General Public. Bruce Leeroy could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Dave Kaplan's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bruce Leeroy! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Dave Kaplan! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Steve Montenegro and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Leeroy shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kaplan napping and manages to drive through into side control! Kaplan is looking for a sweep. Leeroy tries to advance to mount but Kaplan denies him. Kaplan can't do much from the bottom here. Leeroy staying calm. Leeroy advances nicely into full mount. Kaplan is trying to escape the mount.
Kaplan flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kaplan is trying to escape the mount.
Leeroy blocks Kaplan's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Kaplan is looking to get to half guard. Leeroy trying to control but Kaplan is having none of it. Leeroy seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Kaplan is holding on tight.
Leeroy manages to capitalize on a mistake by Kaplan to take his back! Leeroy is not going to allow Kaplan to sit and survive in this position. Kaplan turns into Leeroy and is now in his guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Leeroy throws the left hand but Kaplan avoids the punch easily. Kaplan steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Leeroy. Kaplan has his takedown stuffed and Leeroy counters with a lovely shot to the body. Leeroy throws a right hand that Kaplan ducks under and follows up with a left that Kaplan also avoids with ease. Kaplan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Leeroy.
Kaplan drops his hands momentarily and Leeroy takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kaplan takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Kaplan looks gassed! Leeroy misses with a few strikes there.
Leeroy throws a nice outside leg kick. Leeroy throws a big shot that misses. Kaplan takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Leeroy scores with a sloppy right hand. Kaplan should have avoided that one. Leeroy throws a right hand that Kaplan ducks under and follows up with a left that Kaplan also avoids with ease. Kaplan moves out of range of the strikes. Kaplan tries for a takedown but Leeroy circles away easily and Leeroy counters with a good low kick that Kaplan was not able to check. Bruce Leeroy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Leeroy pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Kaplan has his takedown stuffed and Kaplan takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Bruce Leeroy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Kaplan. This has been an exciting period of action! Leeroy connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Kaplan! He's out on his feet! Leeroy rushes in and drops Kaplan with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Bruce Leeroy! Bruce Leeroy retains his lightweight title!
