Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pete Downer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Lloyd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Donatello Bradman and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Downer changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lloyd tries to avoid it but Downer manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lloyd to the ground. Lloyd escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Downer has a takedown stuffed.
Lloyd misses the shot to the body.
Lloyd tries a head kick but it misses.
Lloyd dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Downer. That did some damage!
Downer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Lloyd cracks Downer with an open hand slap.

Downer is trying hard to land a takedown here. Lloyd sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Downer with a flurry of punches that miss.
Downer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lloyd swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Downer won't allow Lloyd to sweep him here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Downer thows a body shot but no joy.
Downer throws a sloppy head kick and Lloyd moves out of range easily.
A telegraphed right hand from Lloyd misses the target.
Downer pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Downer shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lloyd pinned against the cage. Lloyd gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Tom Lloyd is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Downer stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Lloyd.

and Downer counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Lloyd manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Lloyd scores with a hook to the body. Downer takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Good exchange - Lloyd coming out on top.
A chopping leg kick lands by Lloyd.
Tom Lloyd seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Downer crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Lloyd - the referee stops the clock and Downer gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Lloyd. Downer manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Downer takes one on the chin but seems OK.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Downer has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Lloyd.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Downer's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Lloyd tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Downer blocks a head kick by Lloyd.
Downer swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Lloyd scores with the left hand. Downer knows he should have avoided that one.
Lloyd misses with an attempted mid kick.
Downer fails to land the takedown.
Lloyd chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Downer takes a kick to the side of the head.
Lloyd swats away the attempt to clinch by Downer.
A nice inside leg kick there by Lloyd. That's going to slow Downer down.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Lloyd - that will leave a mark!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lloyd knocks Downer to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?

It looks like Pete Downer has been cut.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Oh Downer is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Lloyd passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Downer!

Downer seems to have got his legs back now.
Lloyd throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Downer because Lloyd loaded up on that one.
Lloyd throwing strikes here but Downer is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Lloyd working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Downer looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Lloyd! Submission of the night perhaps?
