Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Greg Garney! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jordan Sood! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Bruno Hogan and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sood clinches up against the cage. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Garney jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Sood walks away with a smile on his face. Garney gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Sood shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Sood showed some decent athleticism there. Garney is refusing to be controlled, as Sood sits in half guard. Garney looking for submissions off his back. Garney is staying active underneath Sood, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Garney wants to control but Sood is keeping busy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Sood closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Garney looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Sood is keen to just control but Garney is a slippery customer. Garney looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Sood thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Garney to regain full guard. Sood must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Garney has his foot on Sood's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sood works his way back into a safe position though. Garney is breathing heavily. Sood trying to control the position from guard on top but Garney is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Sood is looking to stand up but Garney won't let him. Sood wants to control from the top but Garney keeps moving.

Sood would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Garney is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Sood drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Garney manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Sood has Garney in his guard. Jordan Sood dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Garney misses with a takedown attempt and Sood counters by moving into the clinch. Sood has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Garney clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Garney rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Sood tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Sood seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Garney does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Sood is looking to advance position but Garney won't allow it. Garney wants to get back to full guard but Sood has mounted him! Garney is desperately trying to improve his position but Sood has a good base and remains in mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sood punching from mount but Garney doing a good job of avoiding damage. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Garney is looking to improve his position but Sood isn't that keen on the idea. Sood unloading with bombs! Garney can't escape the position.
Sood swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Garney is now in Sood's guard. A big mistake from Sood there, giving up the dominant position! Garney trying to control but Sood is working from the bottom. Garney working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Garney thows a big elbow that misses. Garney trying to control but Sood is working from the bottom. Sood had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Garney defends it easily. Garney trying to control but Sood is working from the bottom. Garney is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Sood moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Garney gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Sood decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Garney's guard. Sood stands up and waves to Garney to follow him. Garney tries to work over Sood's front leg with a kick but Sood checks it. The fight moves into the clinch position. Garney is trying to drag Sood to the mat but Sood just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Greg Garney. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sood stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sood works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Garney is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sood defends well. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Garney keeping moving, preventing Sood from controlling successfully. Garney not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Garney lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Sood! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jordan Sood showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Garney shoots and misses and Sood counters with a single leg into guard. Garney didn't expect that. Garney has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Sood is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Garney. Sood is staying tight to Garney's torso, preventing him from escaping. Sood lands a nice forearm strike. Sood lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Garney down.
Sood working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. The ground and pound from Sood seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Sood really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Garney. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Garney's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Sood wants to lay and pray for a moment but Garney keeps working. Garney is looking to regain half guard here but Sood keeps moving and retains side control. Sood decides to stand back up. Sood steps back and let's Garney get back to his feet. Garney looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Garney passes Sood's left leg - he's now in half guard. Garney is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sood is just riding it out for now. Garney eventually gives up the hold.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Garney is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sood doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Garney. Sood is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Sood is refusing to be controlled, as Garney sits in half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Garney is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Sood has managed to free his arm - good work. Garney is looking to take a break and control but Sood is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Garney thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sood's head. Garney throwing shots but Sood is blocking nicely.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Garney with a poor takedown and Sood counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Sood has clasped his hands together around Garney's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Garney is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Sood trying to control the action but Garney is working from the bottom. Jordan Sood has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Garney tries to buck Sood off but Sood is having none of it. Greg Garney has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Sood stands up. Garney misses with a shot to the body and Sood counters with a nice double leg into side control. Garney won't be happy with that. Sood wants to stand but Garney has his arm trapped. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Garney can't do much from the bottom here.
And that's the end of the fight! Jordan Sood comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Sood has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
