PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mario Brothers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clay Master (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brothers comes to the cage accompanied by Eye of the Tiger. Master has chosen Eye of the Tiger as his entrance music. Clay Master told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mario Brothers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Clay Master!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yukihiro Shimada and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Master lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Brothers circles away quickly and effectively.
Master looks to land a combination but Brothers avoids it well.
Master throws a shot to the body.

Master drops Brothers with a beautiful combination! Brothers stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Master is looking for the KO!


Brothers is rocked!


It looks like Mario Brothers has been cut.
Brothers is breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A punch combination from Master misses.
Oh Brothers is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Master misses with the combination.
Brothers seems to have got his legs back now.
Master shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Brothers pinned against the cage. Brothers gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Master misses with a two punch combination.
No joy there for Master, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Master scores with a hook to the body. Brothers takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Brothers showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Master.
Master lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Brothers circles away quickly and effectively.
Master shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Brothers sprawls well. Brothers wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Master gets slowly back to his feet.
Master fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Master scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Brothers doesn't seem bothered though.
Master throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Master shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Master was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Master tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Master avoids the attempt from Brothers to control.
Master is looking to stand but Master has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Brothers just holding on.
Master wants to control the pace but Brothers is squirming around nicely.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Master tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
Brothers tries to hold on but Master pushes him away.
Master really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brothers. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Master is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Master is just content to waste time from the top position. Brothers takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Brothers looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Master must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Brothers keeping moving, preventing Master from controlling successfully.
Master would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Brothers bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Master's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Brothers trying to control but Master is working from the bottom.

Master wants to get back to his feet but Brothers is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Brothers with a flurry of punches that miss.
Brothers connects with a couple of short punches.
Brothers tries to free his leg and advance position but Master is retaining full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Master fails with the takedown

and Brothers counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Brothers.
Brothers will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Brothers thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Master's head.

Brothers working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Brothers.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Master lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Master misses with a double jab

and Brothers counters with a shoot takedown. Master fights it but they end up in guard.
Brothers pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Master is keeping the position for now.

Brothers working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Master's head.
Mario Brothers overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Brothers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Master swivels though and keeps the full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Brothers accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
