Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tarpulano Burdagul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joao Batista (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joao Batista is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tarpulano Burdagul!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joao Batista!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A solid leg kick lands there for Burdagul.

Batista drives through with a takedown into guard.
Burdagul keeping full guard, as Batista tries to pass.
Batista looking to sit in guard and control but Burdagul gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Burdagul rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Batista moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Batista is looking to take a break and control but Burdagul is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Burdagul is trying to stand.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Burdagul keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Batista scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Batista trying to pass the guard but Burdagul defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Batista winds up and cracks Burdagul with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Burdagul is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Batista is keen to just control but Burdagul is a slippery customer.
Batista prevents Burdagul from standing back up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Burdagul moves out of range of the body kick from Batista.
Batista throws a leg kick
and Burdagul counters with a slapping leg kick.

Batista with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Batista missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Batista slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Batista really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Burdagul. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Batista looking to sit in guard and control but Burdagul gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Burdagul has gone for a leg lock! Batista slips out almost immediately though and dives into Burdagul's guard.

Batista avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Burdagul is breathing heavily.
Batista trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joao Batista dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Burdagul swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Burdagul ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Batista throws a left and a right that both miss
and Burdagul counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Burdagul shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Batista throws a leg kick but Burdagul moved away.
Batista moves away from the strike by Burdagul.
Batista throws a head kick that misses.
Batista misses the body punch

and Burdagul counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Batista's guard now.
Burdagul forces his way into half guard.

Burdagul is looking for a kimura here.
Batista is trying to control but can't.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Batista can do anything to dispel that myth.
Burdagul tries to stand but can't do so whilst Batista controls his leg.

Burdagul wants to work for an arm triangle but Batista is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Burdagul seems a little lost for a moment, as Batista dominates the positioning.

Batista lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Burdagul down.

Burdagul is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Batista is trying to get an arm triangle but Burdagul is defending well.
Batista remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Burdagul goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Batista turns into him and now he's in Burdagul's guard.
Burdagul has momentary wrist control but Batista slips an elbow through the middle.

Batista is trying to control the action in half guard but Burdagul is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Burdagul won't allow Batista to pass to mount.
Burdagul regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Batista.

Batista content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Burdagul has locked up a guillotine! Burdagul's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Batista is holding on here and Burdagul must be using up a lot of energy. Batista has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Burdagul gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:42 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Tarpulano Burdagul!
