Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cain Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wesley Vergouwe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vergouwe is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Prison Song. Velasquez is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Cain Velasquez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Wesley Vergouwe! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Sano and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Vergouwe. Velasquez is breathing heavily. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Vergouwe. Vergouwe fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Cain Velasquez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wesley Vergouwe. Vergouwe looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Vergouwe takes the fight into the clinch. Vergouwe tries for a takedown. No joy.
Vergouwe manages to break the clinch.
Velasquez swats away the attempt to clinch by Vergouwe. Nice takedown defense from Velasquez. No joy for Vergouwe on that attempt. Vergouwe throws a series of punches but Velasquez moves out of range. Velasquez keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Velasquez swings for the body but Vergouwe moves out of range.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Vergouwe.
That's one minute gone in the round. Velasquez stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Velasquez wants it to stay on the feet. Velasquez throws a right hand that Vergouwe ducks under and follows up with a left that Vergouwe also avoids with ease. Vergouwe shoots in but no luck this time. Vergouwe fails in his attempt to clinch. Velasquez takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Vergouwe shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Vergouwe working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Vergouwe trying to control but he's not successful this time. Velasquez on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Velasquez tries to get out of the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Velasquez wants to get back to his feet.
Vergouwe tries to control but Velasquez wriggling away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Velasquez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vergouwe on the ground. Velasquez blocking the ground and pound. Vergouwe controlling the position easily from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Vergouwe trying to control but he's not successful this time. Vergouwe throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Vergouwe gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Vergouwe gets in close and instigates a clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Wesley Vergouwe dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Vergouwe misses with a takedown attempt - Velasquez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Vergouwe throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Velasquez sees it coming and avoids it easily. Velasquez could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. No luck for Vergouwe with that takedown attempt. Vergouwe shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Velasquez manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Vergouwe throws a big right hand that misses. Vergouwe trying to control but Velasquez is working from the bottom. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Despite being in the dominant position, Wesley Vergouwe just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A head kick from Vergouwe lands but Velasquez takes it in his stride. Vergouwe drives through and clinches with Velasquez against the cage.
Vergouwe pulls guard successfully.
Vergouwe looking to hit a scissor sweep but Velasquez is one step ahead there. Vergouwe looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Velasquez looking to sit in guard and control but Vergouwe gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vergouwe stands and steps away. Velasquez gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Vergouwe gets in close and instigates a clinch. Vergouwe's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Vergouwe takes a swing at Velasquez's ribcage but misses. Vergouwe fakes the leg kick and cracks Velasquez in the body. Vergouwe moves into the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vergouwe can't get the takedown.
Cain Velasquez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wesley Vergouwe. Vergouwe gets a trip takedown into half guard. Velasquez is staying active underneath Vergouwe, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Vergouwe trying to mount his opponent but Velasquez defends it. Vergouwe trying to control from half guard but Velasquez is working away. Vergouwe is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Wesley Vergouwe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Some wild striking there from Velasquez.
Vergouwe tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Velasquez slaps away a takedown attempt from Vergouwe, before circling back to the center of the mat. Vergouwe wants to clinch up but Velasquez keeps it at a distance. Vergouwe tries to close the distance and clinch but Velasquez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. A swing and a miss from Velasquez. Vergouwe scores with a nice body kick.
Vergouwe fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Velasquez, pushing him back against the cage. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Vergouwe manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Velasquez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vergouwe swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vergouwe controls Velasquez momentarily but Velasquez frees himself. Velasquez won't allow Vergouwe to sweep him here. Vergouwe has his hands on Velasquez's head, controlling the position. Vergouwe manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Vergouwe pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Vergouwe trying to control but he's not successful this time. Vergouwe might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Velasquez kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Velasquez wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Vergouwe.
Velasquez wants to try and get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Vergouwe takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Poor strikes thrown by Vergouwe there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Vergouwe looking to control but Velasquez is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Vergouwe throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Velasquez because Vergouwe loaded up on that one.
And that's the end of the fight! Wesley Vergouwe comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Vergouwe has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
