PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Bilodeau (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Snap Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Miguel Bilodeau!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Snap Davis!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bilodeau closes the distance and clinches.
Davis is trying to force a seperation but Bilodeau has the dominant position.
Bilodeau putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Davis in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Davis drops down looking for an ankle pick but Bilodeau pulls his leg out and moves away.

Bilodeau closes the distance and clinches.
Bilodeau is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Davis gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Bilodeau escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Bilodeau dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Davis. That did some damage!
Some wild striking there from Davis.
Davis throws a right hand that Bilodeau ducks under and follows up with a left that Bilodeau also avoids with ease.
Davis shoots for a double leg takedown but Bilodeau sprawls well. He's pushed Davis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Davis swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Bilodeau lands with a slapping head kick.
Bilodeau shoots in for a takedown but Davis shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Miguel Bilodeau. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Davis fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Bilodeau rushes Davis and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Davis's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Bilodeau throws a knee to the head but misses.
Davis jumps guard but Bilodeau stands there with Davis around his waist. Davis gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Bilodeau gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Davis regains guard.

Bilodeau postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Davis is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Bilodeau, into his guard.

Bilodeau on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bilodeau tries to get out of the position.
Davis looking to pass the guard.
Davis trying to control but Bilodeau is working from the bottom.
Davis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bilodeau swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Davis is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Bilodeau keeping moving, preventing Davis from controlling successfully.
Davis controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Davis clinches.
Bilodeau is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.

Bilodeau goes for a takedown in the clinch but Davis prevents it.
Bilodeau is breathing heavily.
Bilodeau changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Davis fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Davis tries to clinch but Bilodeau moves out of range.

Davis gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Snap Davis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bilodeau fakes the leg kick and cracks Davis in the body.

Davis shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Bilodeau is looking to improve his position.

Davis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bilodeau does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Davis frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Davis trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Davis won't let Bilodeau get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Davis can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bilodeau is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Miguel Bilodeau will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Davis avoids the body shot from Bilodeau.
Davis scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Bilodeau fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Davis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bilodeau's waist but Bilodeau gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Davis off to one side.

Davis shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Davis showed some decent athleticism there.
Davis looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Davis seems to be working for a kimura but Bilodeau defends the submission attempt.
Davis has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Davis trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Davis is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Davis controlling his opponent.
Davis tries to control but Bilodeau wriggling away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Davis postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Bilodeau looks a forlorn figure.

Despite being in the dominant position, Snap Davis just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Davis stuffs the takedown attempt from Bilodeau. Bilodeau gets slowly back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Davis wants to clinch.
Davis works over Bilodeau's head and body with a nice combination.
Davis looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Davis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bilodeau sprawls well. Bilodeau wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Davis gets slowly back to his feet.
Davis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Davis misses with a jab, cross combination.
A combination from Davis does no damage.

Davis forces Bilodeau back against the cage and clinches.

Davis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Davis darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Bilodeau wants to improve his position but Davis is controlling well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Snap Davis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Bilodeau's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Davis throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Davis misses with a series of wild punches.
Davis throws a series of punches but Bilodeau avoids them all with ease.

Davis tries to keep at a distance but Bilodeau has taken the fight into the clinch.
Davis tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Bilodeau just stands there and leans against the cage.
Davis gets underhooks to prevent Bilodeau's takedown attempt.
Bilodeau with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Bilodeau tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Davis wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Bilodeau has him pressed against the cage.
Davis takes a knee right on the jaw!

Davis goes for a takedown attempt but Bilodeau pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Miguel Bilodeau has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Snap Davis.

Davis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Davis tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bilodeau swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Bilodeau misses with a takedown attempt - Davis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Bilodeau throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Davis lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bilodeau circles away quickly and effectively.
Davis shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Bilodeau counters by clinching up.
Davis wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Bilodeau has him pressed against the cage.
Bilodeau throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Davis blocks it with crossed arms.

Davis jumps guard and drags Bilodeau to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Davis is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Bilodeau knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Davis on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bilodeau is fighting to break Davis's control of his arms but Davis is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Davis is trying to control the position but Bilodeau postures up.

Bilodeau drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Davis manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Bilodeau has Davis in his guard.
Davis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bilodeau swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Davis gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bilodeau fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Davis avoids it really well and circles away.
Davis throws a combination. Bilodeau tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Bilodeau clinches up with Davis and pushes him back against the cage.

Davis breaks from the clinch.
Davis throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Bilodeau counters by clinching up.
Davis trying to control the position but instead, Bilodeau has worked for underhooks and has pushed Davis into the cage.
Bilodeau keeps control of Davis as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Bilodeau is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.

Davis pulls guard effortlessly.

Davis looking for a guillotine here but Bilodeau defends easily.
Davis lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Bilodeau!

Davis controlling his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

And that's the end of the fight!
Snap Davis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Davis has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
