PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tyler Durden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Nash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Durden comes into the arena with Rollin blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tyler Durden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Steve Nash!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nash chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Durden can pounce on him.
Durden connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Nash momentarily.

Durden closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Nash did well to prevent Durden getting side control.
Durden moves nicely into side control.
Durden landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Durden cracks Nash with a big right hand but Nash just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Durden is looking to take a break and control but Nash is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Durden throws a strike aimed at the side of Nash's head but Nash avoids it well.
Durden looks up at the clock and then as Nash takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Durden smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Durden wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nash keeps working.

Durden is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Nash will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Durden shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Durden is working for a guillotine from mount but Nash frees his head quite easily.
Durden has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Durden is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Nash to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Nash shrugs it off.

Durden is landing with some decent strikes but Nash is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Durden is working for a guillotine from mount but Nash frees his head quite easily.

Durden has hold of Nash's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Nash manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Nash scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Durden doesn't seem bothered though.
Durden looks to throw the jab but Nash is out of range.
Durden walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Nash throws a leg kick but Durden sees it coming and moves out of range.
Tyler Durden is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Nash fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Durden manages to avoid it.

The fighters circling - Nash throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nash gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Durden is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Durden wants to control from the top but Nash keeps moving.

Nash is working to avoid the ground and pound but Durden connects with a decent elbow.

Durden works to advance to full mount. Nash defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Durden looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Durden wants to finish this one by submission but Nash is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Durden.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Nash tries to hold on but Durden pushes him away.

Nash really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Durden. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Durden has control of Nash's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Nash regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Durden takes a swing at Nash's ribcage but misses.

Durden tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nash sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Durden somewhat.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Tyler Durden.

Durden shoots in for a takedown but Nash shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Steve Nash seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Durden looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Nash fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Durden manages to avoid it.

Nash tries to bum rush Durden with a series of wild strikes but Durden uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Nash throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Durden swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Nash cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tyler Durden showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Durden has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
