Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Reinis Repss! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Van Dam! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Fedor Mirinova and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dam misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Repss works the jab nicely.
It looks like Van Dam has been cut. Dam shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Repss is trying to stand.
Dam wants to pass the guard but Repss is defending well. Dam is trying to work for a kimura but Repss is defending well.

Repss takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Repss might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Repss sprawls well. Dam looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Dam takes one to the chin there. Dam takes a body punch but keeps moving. Dam shoots in but Repss avoids the takedown attempt easily. Jab, jab by Repss - just one landing.

Dam moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Dam decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Repss on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Repss is looking to escape. Repss is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Dam scores with a couple of nice shots. Dam is nestled in close to Repss, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Repss looks like he's trying to stand up.

He's pushed Dam's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Repss lands an overhand right. Dam walks into a stiff left hand from Repss. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dam. Repss keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Dam closes the distance and clinches up with Repss, looking for a takedown. Dam pushes Repss against the cage but Repss circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Dam takes one on the button. Repss defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Dam.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Repss lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Reinis Repss is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Dam throws a big right hand that misses. Dam throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Repss works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
And that's the end of the fight! Reinis Repss showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Repss, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
