The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mercier feints and as Action raises his hands in defense, Mercier changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mercier makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Mercier has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mercier wants to control from the top but Action keeps moving.

Mercier passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Mercier is looking to take a break and control but Action is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Mercier is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Mercier is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Action tries to escape but Mercier is in control.

Mercier goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Action rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Mercier's guard! Nice work there by Action!

Mercier is looking for a triangle but Action pushes his legs off easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Action wanted to stand there but Mercier had control of the position.

Mercier bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Action's guard.

Mercier misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Mercier cracks Action with a big elbow.

Mercier is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Action is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mercier tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Mercier thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Mercier is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Action is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
