PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Smash Machine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eiji Nao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Machine might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to In The Morning. Eiji Nao will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Smash Machine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eiji Nao!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nao moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Machine staying out of range there.
Machine dives in and grabs Nao's left leg, looking for a takedown. Nao pushes down on Machine's head and hops out.
Machine takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Nao throws a hook but Machine blocks it.
Nao slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
A decent looking cross lands there for Nao.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Machine ducks under a wild hook from Nao.
Machine shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Nao defends it nicely.
Nao scores with a crisp jab that stopped Machine in his tracks.
Nao pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Machine takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Machine is breathing heavily.
Nao tries to bum rush Machine with a series of wild strikes but Machine uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Nao scores with a nice right hand.
Machine looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Machine shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Nao but Nao pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Smash Machine. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nao connects with the punch.
Nao tries to land a leg kick but Machine saw it coming and moves away.
Machine has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Nao finds it's way round the side to connect with Machine's head.
Nao might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Machine drives through with a takedown into guard.
Nao is trying to control the position but Machine postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nao tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Nao keeping moving, preventing Machine from controlling successfully.
Machine throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Machine tries to free his leg and advance position but Nao is retaining full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Machine takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Machine fails with the takedown.
Nice body punch from Nao.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nao lands a body shot.
Nao cracks Machine with a right hand to the side of the head.
Nao scores with a shot to the body.
Eiji Nao seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nao stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Nao lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Machine backs up against the cage.
Nao keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Machine walks into a straight right hand from Nao.
Machine slips under a jab.
Machine takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Machine takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Nao scores with a hook to the body. Machine takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Nao cracks Machine with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Nao lands a slapping body shot.
Nao takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Nao keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Eiji Nao is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A jab lands there for Nao.
Nao scores with a nice right hand.


Machine is rocked!
Nao connects with a looping right hand.
Oh Machine is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Nao fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Machine to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Machine looks to clinch but Nao throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Machine taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:04 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Eiji Nao!
