The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Fagan or perhaps it was just good defense by Chavez which made him look bad.
Nice takedown defense from Chavez. No joy for Fagan on that attempt.

Antonio Chavez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Chavez throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Fagan sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Chavez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Fagan.

and Chavez counters with a stiff right hand.
Chavez takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

enabling Chavez to counter with a crisp jab.
Chavez looks to land a left hand but Fagan moved out of range nicely.

and Chavez counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Chavez goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Fagan takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Fagan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Chavez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Fagan looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Chavez is avoiding damage well.
Chavez tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Fagan is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Chavez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fagan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Fagan has hold of Chavez's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Chavez tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Fagan cranks the arm and Chavez screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Chavez, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
