The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Davis fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Murdock sprawls well initially but Davis persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Davis decides to stand and escape the position. Murdock swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Davis has a takedown stuffed. Davis misses with a wild body shot. Murdock scores with a jab to the head.
Davis ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Murdock cracks Davis with a good jab. Davis shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Murdock but Murdock pushes him off and we're back to square one. Donk. Murdock catches Davis right on the button with a cross. Murdock scores with a nice right hand.
Murdock lands a head shot. Murdock throws a right and a left that Davis avoids nicely. Davis uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Murdock. Murdock gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Murdock throws the left hand but Davis avoids the punch easily. Murdock is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Davis had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Good work by Murdock as he checks the leg kick. Murdock connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Davis's hands. Murdock lands with a right hand. Davis scores with a nice strike. Murdock looks to score with a jab to the body but Davis is just out of range. Murdock lands with a nice body punch. Murdock jabbing away but nothing is landing. Davis shoots in looking for a takedown. Murdock tries to sprawl out of it but Davis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Murdock manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Murdock shoots in and bounces Davis off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Murdock has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Davis is proving hard to escape from.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Davis throws a head kick that Murdock semi-blocks.
A telegraphed right hand from Murdock misses the target. Davis defending well as Murdock loads up on a big left hand. Murdock misses with a double jab.
Murdock throws an overhand right that lands on Davis's shoulder, as Davis tries to avoid the shot. Murdock throws a wild body kick that Davis sees coming a mile off. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Murdock wants to clinch. Davis stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Murdock. Davis looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Murdy Murdock dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Davis displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Murdock throws out the jab. Davis shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Murdock bucks Davis off and manages to get back to his feet! Murdock works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Davis avoids the body shot from Murdock.
Davis bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Davis throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Davis shoots in for a takedown but Murdock shows good takedown defense. Davis doesn't succeed with the takedown and Murdock counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Murdock misses with an uppercut. Davis saw that one coming. Murdock gets cracked there but stands up to it.

and Davis counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Davis takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Davis shoots for a double leg takedown but Murdock sprawls well. He's pushed Davis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Davis drops his hands momentarily and Murdock takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Davis bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. No luck with that takedown attempt from Davis. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. A left lands for Murdock. Davis fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Murdock fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Murdock gets in close and instigates a clinch. Murdock escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Murdock looks to throw the jab but Davis is out of range. Davis on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Murdock throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Murdock lunges at Davis with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Davis's hand. Murdock fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Davis. Murdock connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Davis waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Murdock. Murdock misses with a few strikes there.

Murdy Murdock showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Murdock lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Davis backs up against the cage.
Murdock throws a combination. Davis tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Murdock lands a jab to Davis's midsection. Murdock drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Davis misses with a takedown attempt - Murdock sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Davis closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Murdock to the mat! Murdock manages to get full guard. Davis tries to free his leg and advance position but Murdock is retaining full guard. Davis trying to control but Murdock is working from the bottom. Murdock manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Murdock throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Davis scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Roy Davis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Murdock is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Davis asserts his dominance and retains side control. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Davis has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Murdock is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Davis yanks on the arm and Murdock is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Davis.
