PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Steffen Goetze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mateusz Pawalszczyk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pawalszczyk has chosen One More Time as his entrance music. Mateusz Pawalszczyk will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Steffen Goetze!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mateusz Pawalszczyk!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yuuki Gou and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Goetze closes the distance and clinches.
Pawalszczyk looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Goetze throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Pawalszczyk has Goetze pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Goetze manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Goetze prevents Pawalszczyk from breaking the clinch.

Goetze wants the takedown. Pawalszczyk is fighting it off but Goetze persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Pawalszczyk's guard against the cage.
Goetze sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Pawalszczyk's guard.
Goetze takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Goetze not doing much here.

Goetze postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Pawalszczyk to stand up.
Mateusz Pawalszczyk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pawalszczyk throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Goetze fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Pawalszczyk looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Goetze moves into the clinch successfully.

Goetze pulls guard successfully.
Pawalszczyk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Goetze. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pawalszczyk is fighting to break Goetze's control of his arms but Goetze is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Goetze has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Pawalszczyk should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Goetze has tightened it up now! Pawalszczyk should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Steffen Goetze!
